Fast Five with Rachel Godwin Becker

Rachel Godwin Becker’s, Founder & CEO of Laundrea, designs caught my eye when I went to a fashion show at Immaculata University. Becker’s dresses are machine washable and claim to rid the need of dry cleaning.. SAY WHAT?! Since it is a womenswear line, I’ll have to buy a dress for my mom to make sure it really is wrinkle-free after washing/drying!

What’s happening now: Becker is busy finalizing her holiday collection and starting S/S 14. Her pieces are making rounds on various news stations, but you can see what else she is up to HERE.

Fast Five with CHRISHABANA

Chris Habana, owner of his eponymous jewelry brand CHRISHABANA, designs jewelry not intended for your mother (unless she likes wearing spikes and body parts). Remember that ring I instagrammed during NYFW? Well now it’s spring, which means you can get it in stores or another piece on his web store.

What’s happening now: Habana is busy having his jewelry featured in publications like V MAgazine, i-D, ELLE, Dazed and Confused, Nylon, and The New York Times to name just a few. Fashion Week is approaching so a new collection must be in the works. I like keeping up with new designs on his Instagram. Maybe you will, too.

Chris Habana

Fast Five with Patricia Maristch

Patricia Maristch, owner and principal of Piqued PR, likes her thank you cards monogramed and her laptops hot pink. If not gaining media attention for her clients, Patricia can most likely be found sifting through clothing racks at her favorite stores (maybe Per Lei Boutique), buying monogrammed home goods (for that personal touch), or testing new beauty products (gimme that foundation – mother’s day is coming up!)

What’s happening now: Patricia has been working on a few projects with Per Lei including an upcoming fashion show, talking with interior design gods like “The Decorista” about Birdaria, planning Philly’s Local Levo #Ask4More event, and house hunting! She’s a big girl now! New business and soon new home!

Fast Five with Denise Fike

Denise Fike, artist turned fashion illustrator extraordinaire, likes to station herself at social gatherings to sketch style setters and socialites. What’s going on now: Fike has spent a lot of time drawing larger than life fashion illustrations. Wanting to try something new, Fike has started designing jewelry! Thankfully I tried on her new rings and she snapped a picture (see below). Fike plans on developing her jewelry skills. Only DF knows what her next project entails; can’t wait to see!

What’s happening now: Athena just finished shooting look books for a handful of designers including Marina Makaron Moscow and Tough Luv Clothing. She’s looking forward to shoots in warm weather and her magazine features in Gothic Beauty, Meuse, and Ellements magazines.
